First Month of Pregnancy – How Your Body Changes

During the first month of pregnancy, there are so many rapid changes occuring within your body. The ironic thing is that most of these changes start to occur even before you know you are pregnant! So what types of things can you start to see happen to your body? Here are just a few of the changes that you will see.

The first thing you may notice is some spotting. It is also very normal not to experience this, so don’t worry one way or another. The reason for spotting is that sometimes when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus, some blood is shed at the implant site.

Your body may also start experiencing bloating in the abdomen. This is typical before the start of a menstrual cycle anyhow, due to the build up of uterine lining. When a fertilized egg arrives in the uterus and implants, there is an increase in blow flow which only makes the bloating worse.

You will likely also start feeling more tired and there are two reasons for this. One is that the above mentioned excessive blood flow to the uterus is expending more energy than your body is used to.

Secondly, there is a shift in hormones which will cause you to feel tired. Regardless, take it as a sign to slow down and relax a little while your body does its thing.

You may suddenly notice a fullness to your breasts and perhaps even an increase in veins showing through your skin. Again, this is caused by a change in hormones and may start occurring before you have a positive pregnancy test.

And lastly, you may start to feel nausea at this point. It really depends on how sensitive your body is, but the change in hormones will already have some women feeling that queasy feeling in their stomach. Some women won’t feel it until their second month of pregnancy and some women won’t feel it at all.

So as you can see, there are a lot of subtle changes occuring during the first month of pregnancy. Your body starts making changes to nurture the growing baby inside of you and the change in hormones to sustain the pregnancy cause yet other changes.

Although there won’t be many visible physical changes until later on, this is a very exciting time in your pregnancy.
