Pregnancy Morning Sickness – The Hardest Part of Being Pregnant

Although most women dream of getting pregnant and about how wonderful it will be to have a little baby in their arms, most of them don’t think about the worst part of pregnancy – morning sickness.

Although it can be a horrible thing for a lot of women, there are some ways to make it more manageable.

Your morning sickness may start gradually and feel like a slight queasiness in your stomach. Or you may even notice that some smells no longer smell good to you or you’re completely turned off by the taste of some foods.

Either way, you may not even take notice to these gradual changes until they become more severe.

As time goes on, you might notice a more nagging nausea feeling that may prevent you from eating as often as you normally would. At this point you may even start vomiting whether or not you’ve eaten.

This is something that needs to be monitored to prevent dehydration. Not only are you not eating and drinking enough, but you start to lose fluids through the vomiting.

This is a good time to start drinking small amounts of a electrolyte solution like Gatorade or Pedialyte. If your vomiting is particularly severe, try just drinking 1 tablespoon of solution every 15 minutes for a couple of hours.

When are starting to feel really bad, you can start to use some more advanced morning sickness remedies. These will range from eating smaller snacks like saltine crackers to using accupressure bands on your wrists to possibly getting a prescription medication from your doctor.

If at any point in your pregnancy morning sickness becomes too severe of a problem for you, either you can’t keep anything down, you start to loose too much weight, or you just become too lethargic to function, you should seek help.

Start with home remedies and if they don’t give you enough relief, don’t hesitate to contact your healthcare provider to get some more advice and possible rehydration.
